Helm of the Host Combos

Additional Combat phases has become a mechanic that appears in every few sets. With Helm of the Host, those additional combat phases create additional tokens, which an easily create a loop. There are also a couple ways to use this to gain infinite turns.

Additional Combat Phases

Although all 5 of these cards are viable options for infinite combat steps there are some stand out differences. Combat Celebrant is the lowest mana value making it the easiest to play earlier but does have the lowest Toughness so it is the easiest to remove. Godo, Bandit Warlord does have a high Mana Value but it does have the added bonus of being able to Tutor your library for Helm of the Host, giving you your combo. Akki Battle Squad, does have the highest Power and Toughness making it the hardest option to remove but it does require at least on of the creatures you attack with to be modified.

Additional Turns

Although infinite turns aren't quite as popular a combo piece for Helm of the Host, since it is mostly used for aggro decks, it is still a viable option. Timestream Navigator requires you to have the city's blessing when you are attempting the combo, but if you do, you just pay 4 mana remove the token copy on Timestream Navigator from the game, and take your extra turn, keeping the original. As an alternative win-con in a Merfolk deck, Wanderwine Prophets requires you to have 2 other Merfolk to work. First you have to exile a Merfolk to keep the original in play, and you need to exile another Merfolk when the copy is created, but when the copy deals combat damage to a player you just sacrifice it and return the exiled Merfolk to play, to repeat the process on your extra turn (Also a bonus if the exiled Merfolk has an Enters the Battlefield effect).
